So, how do you gather feedback without knowing the identity of the employee?

Your employees will receive a link via email or sms which is unique to each person. That link will take them to the bespoke survey we have created with your input from the survey template and from there all feedback (such as on Messenger or an Open Door response) is private and confidential. We will never identify the employee by name or any other identifiable factors, allowing all of your people to respond in confidence that nothing they say can be traced back to them.

How can I break down scores by demographics if responses are confidential?

You can’t identify individual employees, but you can view responses by attributes (location, tenure, department, etc) to allow you to identify sentimental trends, departmental issues and create targeted action plans.

Hive will never show demographics for groups less than 3 people—although we strongly recommend a minimum of 6—so that people can’t be identified.

And does this apply to all aspects of the Hive?

All feedback submitted through Open Door is completely confidential. Just as with survey data, admins can filter feedback to dive into the detail and create unique action plans according to what thoughts, ideas, or concerns employees raise.

Hive Fives are a great way for employees to show their appreciation to their coworkers. But to prevent the minority from abusing the Hive Fives channel, they are not confidential—the status board shows which employee has received the Hive Five, but not who sent it.

What can I tell my employees to reassure them that their identities are protected?

“We recognise the importance of survey confidentiality. That’s why we are giving you a private platform to voice your opinions, so you can be as honest and constructive as you like.

By completing surveys, you are helping us make positive changes in your workplace. So say what you really think, and know that no matter what you say, your identity will be protected.

Don’t just take our word for it. Read Hive’s Confidentiality Commitment for more details.”
