Passkeys
Admin guide to passkeys
Passkeys are a highly secure, password-free login method that uses your device's built-in password or biometric technology (such as Face ID, device fingerprint) to verify who you are. Instead of typing a password, users simply approve the login on their device.
Passkeys are device-bound, meaning the credential is stored securely on the user's own device and cannot be shared or phished.
Why use Passkeys?
- Highly secure - credentials are stored on the device and cannot be stolen via phishing
- Fast and frictionless - a face or fingerprint scan completes the entire login in seconds
- No passwords to reset
How to Enable Passkeys
|
1 |
From your admin dashboard, open Account Settings → Authentication. |
|
2 |
Scroll to the Passkeys section. |
|
3 |
Toggle on Allow Passkey login. |
|
4 |
Click Save Changes. |
Once enabled, users will see a Sign in with a Passkey option on the Hive sign-in page. On their first use, they will be prompted to register their device. After registration, future logins are completed with a single biometric confirmation.
Device Registration: Passkeys are registered per device. If a user signs in on a new device (e.g. a new laptop), they will need to register their passkey on that device before it becomes available as a login method.
