Q: Can I target a survey to specific groups?

A: Yes. In your Survey Builder you can create a custom recipient list or send it to everyone.

Q: Can I add new participants after the survey has gone live?

A:Yes, you can do this in the Survey section  Click ⚙️ on relevant survey →  Add new recipients → Search for the name and send them an invite.

Q: How do I remind employees about incomplete surveys?

A: From the dashboard you can send survey reminders to those who haven’t completed the survey yet. You can send a reminder every 48 hours and the button will grey out within this time. You can hover over the ‘Send reminder’ button to view the date and time you will be able to send another notification. You can also target individual employees within the User settings →  Search for User →  Click →  ‘Send reminder’.

Q: Can I edit a question after the survey has been sent?

A: No. To protect the integrity of the data and ensure all employees are answering the same thing, questions are locked once the survey is live. Always use the Preview function to double-check spelling and logic before hitting send.

Q: What happens if I close a survey early?

A: If you close a survey, any employees who haven't finished will no longer be able to access the link. The data collected up to that point will remain in your dashboard for analysis.

Q: Can I change the close date of a live survey?

A: Yes. You can extend or shorten the duration of a live survey. Navigate to Survey section  Click ⚙️ on relevant survey → Edit Survey → Open schedule tab → Update accordingly → Save changes.

Q: Why can't I see results for a specific department even though I sent them the survey?

A: Hive has a Confidentiality Threshold (usually 6 responses). If fewer than 6 people in that department have responded, the results will stay hidden to protect their identities.

Q: Can I add an Engagement Index to a Custom Survey or ENPs Survey?

A: No, this is currently not an option in a custom survey. If you want Engagement results you will need to create a survey using the Engagement Survey template.

💡 Admin Best Practices: Surveying for Success

✅ The Power of the Preview: Always send a test email to yourself from the Survey Builder. Check how the links look on both desktop and mobile to ensure the employee experience is seamless.

✅Data and structure: Double-check that your data, including segments and attributes, is current and correct. When you launch the survey, the system grabs a snapshot of this data, so your results will reflect what was in place when the survey started.

✅ Mind the "Social Sending Hours": Aim to schedule your surveys for mid-week (Tuesday–Thursday). Hive only sends notifications between 9 am and 9 pm, so scheduling for 8 am ensures it's at the top of their inbox when they start.

✅ Avoid "Survey Fatigue": If you are running multiple surveys, use the Targeting feature to ensure the same group isn't being surveyed more than once every few weeks.

✅ Announce Before You Send: Confidence in anonymity starts with communication. Use your internal channels (Slack, Teams, Email) to announce the survey 24 hours before it lands in Hive.

📊 Reporting

Q: How can I view or analyse survey results?
A: View survey dashboards for high-level results, individual questions, and heatmaps. Heatmaps visualise scores across segments and can be exported or downloaded for reporting.

Q: What is the Engagement Index?

A: The Engagement Index is a score based on three specific questions that measure an employee’s emotional connection to your organisation - Loyalty, Pride and Advocacy. Using this index allows you to track a consistent "North Star" metric across different surveys.

Q: How do Benchmarks work in my reports?

A: Benchmarks allow you to compare your scores against external industry standards or your own previous internal results. This helps you understand if a score is "good" relative to others in your sector.

Q: Can I filter my reports by more than one segment at a time?

A: Yes. You can use multiple filters (e.g., "Department: Sales" AND "Location: London") to drill down into specific pockets of your organisation, provided the group still meets the confidentiality threshold.

Q: What is a Heatmap, and how do I use it?

A: A Heatmap is a color-coded grid that shows your highest and lowest-scoring areas across different demographics. It’s the fastest way to identify "hot spots" where engagement is high and "cold spots" that might need extra support.

Q: What are 'Key Drivers'?

A: Key Drivers are the specific questions or categories that have the biggest impact on your overall engagement score. Focusing your action plans on these "drivers" will give you the most significant boost in employee engagement.
